Lamp „Tulip blossom“
As the name suggests the inspiration came from nature or, more precisely, from my back garden. I was attracted by the tulip because of its singularity, and maybe also because of its interesting history. In 1636 tulip bulb was the cause of stock market crash in the Netherlands. The flower was very popular in Turkey in the second half of the 16th century from where it was brought to the Netherlands. Tulips became very popular and took the Dutch by storm. The record was set when a single tulip bulb reached the staggering price of average 40-year salary! What followed was a stock market crash and a 90 per cent price drop. Tulip is a symbol of Turkey, the national symbol of Hungary and it also appears in the flag of Iran. It was a highly-valued ornament of gardens in Persia, the country if its origin. Its symbolism is similar the rose. Later tulip entered the Christian iconography as the symbol of love of the God raising the blossom towards the sun and closing it at the sunset.

My tulip is turned upside down and so failing all the symbolisms of the flower. I attached the blossom on a tube which can be adjusted according to the wishes of a buyer. My representation of the tulip is a stylized image of the flower that doesn’t open with the sun as in Christian symbolism but hangs from the ceiling and brings light.
